Shark Tank India Judges Added Azhar Iqbal Who’s one of the founders of this cool company called Inshorts. The story begins when he decided to say “No more” to his studies at IIT-Delhi and took a big risk. He, along with his buddies Deepit Purkayastha and Anunay Arunav, thought to themselves, “Hey, let’s take our idea to Facebook!” That’s when Inshorts was born. Over time they grew the company from a Facebook page to a big-deal startup. They’ve even raised over $119 million so far from funders like Tiger Global, Vy Capital, Rebright Partners, Times Internet, and more!

Azhar’s newest gig? He’s joined the famous TV show, Shark Tank India judges, for its third season. This comes right after other heavyweight CEOs, Ritesh Agarwal of OYO and Deepinder Goyal of Zomato, decided to hop onto the Shark Tank bandwagon. The coming season is also going to feature other industry bigwigs like Peyush Bansal from Lenskart, Anupam Mittal from People Group, Namita Thapar from Emcure, Vineeta Singh from Sugar Cosmetics, Aman Gupta from boAt, and Amit Jain from CarDekho Group.
Why has Azhar joined the show, you ask? Well, he wants to let young aspiring entrepreneurs know that it doesn’t matter where they come from or if they have a degree. What’s important is the fire in their belly to achieve something and their determination to keep at it. He himself has been through a rollercoaster of a journey over the past decade and knows just how exhilarating the ride can be.
He’s mostly new to this angel investment scene and has only invested in one startup, Quickpay, so far. Joining the show might be his way of expanding his involvement in supporting new startups and drawing more attention to Inshorts, his quick news platform.
Just one little hiccup though, Inshorts isn’t exactly raking in the profits at the moment. In the financial year 2021-22, it posted a net loss of $31.8 million. Yet, they did manage to increase their annual revenue from $13 million to $18.9 million.
But let’s not forget, many other ‘sharks’ on the show are in the same boat. Let’s see what this latest season brings to the table for these shark-trepreneurs!
